Letter to Pug

About a week ago, the LFST HOSTs moved from "passive" hosting, wherein they read the boards, issue necessary TOS violations, delete posts that are offensive...but don't publicly talk to us via the board, to "active" hosting, where they publicly post on the boards in some sort of misguided attempt to be "community leaders." They started this up over on the B3 bulletin board about a week ago.
They were being welcomed by some of the people over there, but I smelled a rat, and told them that I refused to kowtow to their ugly regime. They quickly showed their true colors and began to hint darkly of TOS violations, refused to leave us alone, and essentially said that there was nothing we could do about it....they were the new boss, and we would have to suck up to them. I left the board, announcing that I wouldn't post again until they were gone (a promise I will keep).
I set up housekeeping in WWW, and all of a sudden HOST Xenith was in WWW. So I won't post THERE, either, since they seem to be obsessed with making sure I get taught a lesson. They can't force me to talk to 'em, OR force me to kiss their heinies, and I'm going to write about the hosts on my website (although I still won't use profanity, that's not the issue here), and I'll make sure that the hosts themselves get a link to the site.
I talked to OldeRocker on the phone today, and his comment agreed with mine: we need monitors, not dictators, which is what this swarm of volunteer busy-bodies wants to be. Their ilk slammed shut the gas-chamber doors at Auschwitz, and I will NOT cooperate with modern day Gestapo wannabe's.
Here is why it is morally wrong for the Hosts to attempt to actively host bulletin boards:
1. It creates a two-tiered class system, where one group of posters has far more rights than the others; i.e., the HOSTS will be able to say whatever they want, but the rest of us will live in fear of offending the HOST, and of having our account disconnected. This group of middle-aged harridans with too much time on their hands has already proven that they run in a wolf pack; the odds of their handing out TOS violations to each other is virtually nil. So: they can verbally kick us and beat us, and we can't do anything about it.
2. By actively posting their opinions on the boards, the hosts will form friendships and show preferential treatment to those who match their boring bourgeois viewpoints. Their suck-up friends will not receive TOS violations, but anyone who opposes them will be TOS'd for the slightest infraction. I refuse to join a claque of arse-licking sycophants just to get my occasionally oddball point of view distributed to the world.
3. I like to think that those policing my behavior on AOL actually HAVE concerns about what sort of content is being presented to minors on AOL. I'd like to think of them as morally superior to myself. But this group of pious hypocrites has the nerve to try and lecture ME, of all people, about how children and teens must be guarded (by them) from the content of my posts....while they boast on the board about HOW BIG THEIR TITS ARE. What kind of disgusting moral degenerates has AOL sent to police us???
4. I do not use profanity, either on the boards or IRL. I don't put up posts with thinly veiled cursing (such as "phuque", or "sh*t). But AOL's new TOS guidelines are so strict that I could get a TOS for discussing the great LP "Nevermind The Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols," an album so great that even the hippies at Rolling Stone named it their pick for the second best album of all time. Can you imagine discussing something called "Nevermind The ********, Here's The *** *******?"
I generally do not urge any of you to a course of action; one thing I've learned, is that you can't give orders to anyone here, and any attempts to get people to follow a path usually gets everyone wandering all over the woods: you people can't be led. But I want to urge everyone who reads this: Do Not Cooperate With The LFTS Hosts. They do not have your best interests at heart. They are pinheaded, intellectual non-entities puffed up with the trappings of power; they are swaggering, evil bullies.
To paraphrase a great movie: "IGNORE THE LITTLE MEN BEHIND THE CURTAINS."
